"French Cuisine And Traditions"
French food is very unique and it takes hours to prepare it, definitely not for amateur cooks and those who have not developed a taste for French cuisine. France is the 2nd largest country in Europe and it’s famous for its food culture apart from its art, monuments, fashion and Cheese (which they consume the highest on the planet).
The French have elevated food into an art form. They produce items locally like cheese, butter, and salt. And how can someone forget the lustful French wine, which this region boasts about? Their chicken recipes, which they are famous for, the Crusty Baguette ate with ripe Brie or an apple pie, France is heaven for any food lover.
The French love their chicken, it’s one of the most important dish. The French meal is divided into 3 parts: The soup (starters), followed by the chicken based dish (Main course) and the deserts which is what they end their meal course with.
There are many types of chicken based cuisines like “Coq au vin/breaded chicken/Poulet parissene/ Almond crusted chicken” and much more.
Let me guide you through the recipe for one of the most relishing, mouth-watering delicacy - Almond Chicken.
Almond Chicken Recipe
This is one of the easiest chicken recipes from the lot, it features pan-fried boneless breast topped with honey sauce and lots of crunchy toasted almonds. It is the perfect recipe if the time is less or it is a lazy weekend, you want an easy yet delicious meal by your side, this is the dish you must make! The French have always relished nutrition and herbs in their food with a touch of sauce to add to the French affair. The almond coating ensures the breast meat will stay tender and moist and the sauce adds a lot of interest to it.
Notes To Keep In Mind Before Cooking Almond Crusted Chicken
Be careful not to fry the chicken at too high of a temperature as the ground almonds can burn easily. It is ideally best to flatten the breast before starting.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sliced almonds (3 ounces)
- 4 chicken breast halves (about 6 ounces each)
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup ground almonds
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 1/4 cup honey
- Salt and pepper
Preparation
Pre-heat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius and then spread the almonds out on a non-sticking baking sheet. Toast the chicken for about 4 minutes or until it's brown or golden in color. Open the chicken breasts in 2 halves and cover it with a sheet of wax paper. You need to prepare three dredging pans, beat the egg with the water, mix the breadcrumbs with almonds. Then in a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil and butter on medium flame. When the butter has melted, place the breaded chicken in the frying pan. Sprinkle the chicken breasts with salt and pepper to taste and dip in the beaten egg. Finally, coat the chicken breasts with the breadcrumb mixture you had prepared in the beginning.
